JMK Solicitors and CRASH Services donate £13k to Cancer Fund For Children

By 3rd August 2021March 4th, 2024News

Staff at JMK Solicitors and CRASH Services have raised £13,000 so far in 2021 in the second year of their partnership with charity partner Cancer Fund for Children. This amazing effort is the result of the fundraising efforts of their team, despite another lockdown in the first quarter of 2021.

Cancer Fund for Children support children and young people diagnosed with cancer or living with a parent diagnosed with cancer. They offer support in their home, community, on the hospital ward and at their residential centre, Daisy Lodge in Newcastle, with the aim that no family face cancer alone.

Jonathan McKeown, Chairman of JMK Solicitors and CEO at CRASH Services said, “We are delighted to be able to support Cancer Fund for Children during what must have been a very difficult two years for charities across the province. Although we are still unable to carry out some in-person fundraising events, our staff continue to come up with engaging fundraising challenges.  They not only raised funds but also increased employee morale at a time when many of the team are still working remotely. We have hosted fitness challenges, sweepstakes, an easter colouring competition and our biggest fundraiser so far, Fleet Director, Paul Cooney’s cycle from Belfast to Derry/Londonderry. Our kind-hearted staff have also opted to join into a monthly salary sacrifice scheme where a regular amount is donated each month going directly to the charity.”

Jonathan added, “We look forward to continuing our fundraising efforts through the latter part of the year for our amazing charity partner.”

Alex Murdock, Corporate Fundraiser at Cancer Fund for Children commented, “It has been an absolute pleasure to continue working with the amazing teams at both JMK Solicitors and CRASH Services moving into the second year of our partnership, and I am yet again blown away by their dedication and energy in supporting Cancer Fund for Children. From business contributions to staff salary sacrifices, their ‘Lockdown Night In’ competition, joining us for our ‘Spring in Your Step’ challenge, the Easter colouring competition, and team members taking on the Belfast City Virtual Half Marathon, this year has been non-stop; and it has not been just about supporting local families impacted by cancer, but about supporting the team too by boosting well-being through what has been a very difficult year.

“To top it all off, I recently joined CRASH Fleet Director Paul Cooney and his amazing troop for his incredible cycling challenge from Belfast to L/Derry which raised over a phenomenal £9,000! It has been a pleasure to join the team whenever possible to say thank you in person for helping us ensure no child has to face cancer alone, and I can’t wait to see what the second half of the year brings. I know it will be just as amazing as the first half!”
