Background

With over 30 years of experience in both Defendant and Plaintiff Litigation in Northern Ireland, Susan brings a wealth of expertise to her role. As a cost consultant at JMK Solicitors, she plays a key role in shaping strategy and improving performance in cost recovery.

In addition, Susan serves as a Senior Tutor for the IPLS Head of Civil Litigation course, where she teaches Northern Ireland’s emerging solicitors about County and High Court litigation. She is also an active member of the Clients Complaints Committee of the Law Society, using her extensive experience to advocate for clients who are dissatisfied with the representation provided by their solicitors.

Key Duties

  • Support with cost recovery in all litigation case types at all court levels
  • Review of all Costs Appeal consideration documents and approval for Appeal alongside Directors when necessary
  • Drafting/ Approval of court document precedents as relates to costs recovery at all court levels
  • Monitor and report on recovery of costs and damages
  • Develop strategy and processes for optimum costs recovery and taxation of high court level cases

Outside of work

As a mother to two teenagers who are learning how to drive and planning for university, Susan is kept busy!
