Paul is a qualified solicitor in both Northern Ireland and the jurisdiction of England and Wales. Prior to joining JMK Solicitors in January 2023, Paul had over three decades of experience in dealing with various types of litigation including matrimonial work, criminal defence cases and of course personal injury litigation.
In regard to personal injury work, Paul has been working in this area since 2006 covering such areas as accidents at work, road traffic collisions, medical negligence and public liability claims.
Paul graduated from Queen’s University Belfast before gaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Administrative and Legal Studies from the University of Ulster. Paul then went on to complete his studies by passing his professional qualification exams at the Institute of Professional Legal Studies.
Paul originally worked in England for 14 years following university and has been based in Northern Ireland since 2006. For several years Paul was chair of his then local solicitors association in the Ballymena & Antrim area and also served as a Council Representative with the Law Society of Northern Ireland.
Paul takes the view that matters should never be made more complicated than is absolutely necessary and therefore has a straightforward approach to cases. It is this direct and clear advice and assistance provided by Paul that helps to resolve a case so much easier for the person concerned. Paul very much sees his role as being a helpful guide for people going through an unfamiliar experience.
- Paul has achieved a six figure settlement in a medical negligence case concerning a mishandled heart operation.
- Settlements in excess of £50,000 have been achieved by Paul in various cases involving permanent injury and disfigurement.
- Paul has acted in many road traffic collision cases over the last number of years prompting him to undertake and successfully complete the advanced driving course programme.
Outside of work
Paul enjoys time away from work by regularly taking part in his local Park Run, both as a runner and a volunteer. In 2021 Paul achieved a long standing ambition by taking part in and completing the Great North Run.
